In a materialistic culture, we all need a good reminder of God’s perspective. The Sabbath Year and Year of Jubilee promised rest and release. In particular, the Jubilee gave an economic overhaul to the nation with the release of debts and bondage as well as the return of all property sold.
This teaches us not to hold our possessions too tightly, to submit to some loss, and to anticipate the blessings of the end of the age.
